Custody Alerts
When students have a custody alert that is critical to the safety of a student, there should be a much more appropriate graphic than a tiny little "almost hidden" bubble on the very cluttered user interface. Other software packages have much more "alerting" graphics to make the matter obvious to busy secretaries fielding many tasks simultaneously while verifying custodial and emergency contact people who come to pick up students at the end of the day. Please pay greater attention to making your user interface more user friendly.
134 votesAs mentioned by others in the comments, you can leverage parental consent notes and/or critical alerts to help draw additional attention to these students. We did bring this feedback over to the Qmlativ product and much like on SMS you can require acknowledgement on Critical Alerts; however, on Qmlativ we do this per student based on their explicit situation, in addition to allowing a custom note to be added to the alert that can be viewed by anyone who has access to that student indicator for additional awareness.

Family change history report
We would like a report the would pull family change history, including family order change and address change. We have numerous requests to provide documentation showing where a student lived and with whom for any given date. It would be helpful to have a report that showed family information - what family they were (1, 2, etc.) and when. Also what their address was and if/when it was changed and changed from what address. Lastly, what students were attached to that family and who the guardians were at that time.

Add family by Family ID number
Allow the ability to add a family by Family ID number instead of by parent name. This would guarantee that you are adding the same family for a sibling.

Make Primary Phone Number assignable per guardian, not household
Currently, if Guardian2 signs into Skyward Family Access and changes the primary phone number to be G2's cell phone, not only does the HOUSEHOLD primary phone number change, Guardian1's Primary phone number is not only replaced, it's been fully lost.
Primary Phone Number should be assignable for each guardian. It's not 1989 anymore. Cellphones exist. The default phone number for any given student should be Family1/Guardian1, not a household number.

Show if there are additional students linked to a particular Guardian within a different household
We have many guardians that are attached to two households due to combined or split family situations. It would be nice if the Family area showed whether there are other students linked to a particular guardian, even though the students are not linked to the same family ID.

Delete a Parent from Family and Emergency Tabs at the Same Time
Currently, when deleting a parent from a Family when a parent passes away, Skyward does not delete that parent from the Emergency Contact tab. It's very troubling to me when I forget to remove a parent from the emergency tab who has passed away even though I did remove them from the Family tab.

Ability to choose sibling connection
It would be very helpful to have the option of choosing whether students are siblings or not when they share a guardian. Sometimes we add Organizations as a family member to show outside agency therapists, case managers, or even legal Children & Youth guardians. Right now, any students who happen to share a therapist or case manager are automatically flagged as siblings so we have to create a separate guardian record for the same person. It would be great if there was a pop-up box notifying us that another student has the same guardian and giving the option of linking…

Blended Families
Would like an option to have 50/50 families in Skyward instead of Family 1 and Family 2. When doing a mailing, sometimes you only want actual custodial families to get the info, so a Family 2 may not be appropriate. And then there are other times when you want a custodial parent to get the info, but if you are only mailing to family 1, that family won't get it. The family setup is not real conducive to the reality of family situations that we deal with.

Lease Expiration Date Field/Pop-up
Need a Lease Expiration Date field that can be reported on data mined with ranges and checked as renewed.

Addition of identifying information for siblings
It would be a great asset if the siblings that are listed in the family tab could be identified with grade level and entity. This has become a great need during the Covid-19 situation. When a student has been exposed, one entity has to reach out to the other schools to let them know the siblings may be required to quaratine as well. Nurses usually have access only to their specific students and can't see what entity the siblings are tied to in order to make contact.

Sort Mailing Labels by Student Last Name or Student Demographic Fields
The Family Census Report where you can run Family Mailing labels does not have the ability to be sorted alphabetically by student last name.
You also cannot run mailing labels based on basic demographic indicators.
For instance, we want to run all free and reduced students mailing labels and organize them by student last name alphabetically.
Data mining is NOT an option that can be used for this because our secretaries do not have security access to enter the food service password to run these reports.
There are multiple times a year when the nurse needs to send out notifications…

Would like to add a portfoilio attachments
We would like to create portfolio attachments for Parent/Guardian IDs court documents birth certificates cum records etc. so that this information can be looked up under each student.

Need ability to default for new families check boxes for Receive Report Cards, Print Hard Copy Report Cards and Receive Forms.

We can do so for custodial and pickup, but not for the report card stuff.
We spend lots of time double checking why someone didn't get a mailing or a report card due to a box being left unchecked by accident.
I know there are mass assign options, but we want the Receive Hard Copy of report cards to be blank to begin with and parents can change within online registration if they really want a copy mailed to…

Different rights for different parents
In some cases we have a parent who has educational rights but has a protective order from knowing where mom/child live. By law we have to give parent rights to kids grades but not where he/she lives guardians names registration info etc. Skyward really needs to add a code of some sort that ONLY gives that member of the family rights to the GRADES tab not attendance not student info nothing else!!!!
