Option to have absence totals be district-wide
We would like to have the option for attendance totals to carry over when a student transfers between one entity and another within the district during the school year. As it stands now attendance is entity specific so the student basically starts over at zero absences when they transfer to a new building. This can lead to the student receiving multiple copies of an attendance letter during the school year or not receiving a letter when they should have received one (based on total attendance throughout the year). We have multiple elementary and secondary schools (and a cyber program) and a number of students that move from one entity to another during the school year.
Perhaps there could be an option of "importing" the attendance totals when a student transfers to another entity within the district during the school year. Another option would be to include all absences for the current school year regardless of entity when running the attendance letter updates. This would allow us to run our attendance letter templates against all of the student's absences for the entire year instead of just for that specific entity.

Any updates on this feature request?
We report attendance to the DOE per entity, but when it comes to tracking student achievement/attendance, we need to be able to do attendance letters and totals for the district not per entity. -

I wonder if the district to district would work within a district because that imports everything?

IN also sends weekly state reports with exit dates, codes, etc. This would not work for us either. The issue here is that the attendance/tardy did in fact happen at a particular entity. I like the fact that Skyward does not allow the attendance to cross entities. I think that would make tracking the attendance harder. I do appreciate the reason why you want to do this although!

In Illinois we have to send attendance for every exit so not sure this would work for our State.

We are requesting that attendance totals be district wide and not entity specific for students. With new Attendance and Truancy regulations it is important that districts track all attendance for students consistently. Currently our Attendance letters are generating incorrectly for students who move buildings and report cards are totaling attendance wrong for students who moved buildings.

From what I've been told attendance at least for the attendance letters does not follow a student when they change entities. When they transfer to a new building their attendance counts for the letters get set back to zero. I'm sure that in many districts especially large ones where students change schools (entities) frequently becasue of address changes having their attendance reset to zero causes many issues. Maybe it could just be a setting on doing an entry into their new school. A simple pop-up that asks "Would you like to transfer the student's attendance into their new entity?" Then the letters wouldn't lose their attendance counts and start over again.
