Make it easier for existing FA users to register New students w/out duplicates
There needs to be a way to keep RETURNING students from submitting a NSOE application. I know that we can disable displaying the link to new enrollment on Family Access, but if you do that then existing users will have to request another acct to register a new student. Say a parent has 2 in school and now they will have a PK. Parent already has an account. If the register new student link is not visible in Family Access she will have to go to the district site and click on the new student enrollment...which defaults to register for an acct to register a student. SHE ALREADY HAS AN ACCOUNT! There should be a way for her to bypass requesting an account to register a new student.
All this to say that we display New Student link in family access. We have parents that have returning students that fill out the new application. Yes, it should be caught when the application is processed, but often it is not. And we use the option to not show schedules until their registration is updated. When the parent fills out the wrong application, they think they have registered but they can't see their students schedule until someone processes that new application. Which means I have angry parents calling the office.
Yes, we could deny the application and make them use the correct one, but that is not good customer service.
