When in Student Access, we have had to shut off the Student Information tab where a student can see their Advisory Teacher, Counselor, and LOCKER NUMBER AND COMBO. They also can see their parent information and Emergency contacts. We feel the Parent Information should be on a separate tab in Student Access that can be toggled on or off by the district. The problem with having this information on the same screen as Locker Info and other pertinent information to the student is that since a student can see information on both Family 1 and Family 2, if a separated/divorced parent uses the student's login they will be able to see both families address, phone, and email. This is a huge problem due to data privacy laws. Student's know their parent information. We should not be allowing any parents a way to access each other's information unless they do it outside of Skyward. We have had to turn our off for years now. However, students would like their locker information, as well as advisors, counselor information accessible, especially at the beginning of the school year. We would like to move the family information to another tab so we can leave access to the student information and what is located there and turn off access to family information. This has been requested for many years and Skyward has still not addressed the situation. Please consider this as a move forward for the students.
