Electronic 941

It would be nice if we could upload electronic 941's. Your website indicates that you have 2,000+ customers so that means that there are over 8,000 paper forms going to the IRS every year. Other software companies are doing this, why not Skyward?

Starting with the 05.20.02.00.11 & 05.20.06.00.02 addendums both available on 6/25/2020 a new option will be available to populate the IRS Form 941 with data from the 941 Report/Extract. Presently, this is only available for the current (2020) form year.

After researching this request, we determined the effort required to make SMS sync with the IRS website to allow our users to electronically report 941 is too great of an undertaking at this time. It would require 1,000s of development hours, and there are many unknowns in relation to connecting Skyward directly with the IRS, successful transmission, corrections, and submissions.

Skyward plans to build electronic 941 reporting in Qmlativ, which is better equipped to connect to the IRS interface.

For SMS, we’ve determined through programmer analysis, that we are able to add the actual PDF form to SMS. This will allow users to complete it, download it, and print the competed form.

I was shocked when I came out of the business world 9 years ago to find out this software did not complete Federal and State payroll forms within the system. Please add this feature!
