Hi everyone, we have begun development updates to provide additional functionality to better track a student’s legal name when they identify with another name. An identity tab will be available within the Student profile where a student’s legal name information can be maintained and pulled from for state reporting needs. This will then allow the preferred name to be entered as the student’s profile name and be represented throughout the system. We will also be looking to provide options on report cards and transcripts to designate which name you’d like to print.

We have transgender students who would like to use a preferred name instead of their legal name. In order for the preferred name to show in Skyward but still report the legal name for Wisconsin state reporting, we enter the legal name on the Student Name Override area on the WI/NCLB tab and then change the profile name to the preferred name. This works a lot better than using the "other name" field for transgender students.
We would like to add the ability to choose where the name and gender pull from for transcripts, report cards, etc. Right now, when we run a transcript for a transgender student, the name pulls from the general profile tab and the gender pulls the gender identity field. We would like to be able to select to pull the name from either the general profile OR the Name Override and pick the gender OR gender identity. There are times when we want the legal name and gender and times when the preferred name and gender identity are more appropriate.

In the online registration set up, you can select "complete step # and move to step #" in the Step Completion Buttons set -up area (just above where you add the steps).

You can allow staff to see their lunch balances by giving them rights in EA+, but a widget would be a lot nicer to have as an option.

We set up different enrollment/entry codes for various situations (new to the district, transfer w/in the district, etc). We then can run a data mining report on the entry code to get the students new to the district or new to that school.

The "Other Name" field does not work well for this. When you have another name in the "other name" field, it does not show up everywhere (it shows in very few places, actually) and the teachers need to select to show the other name in their grade book in order to see it (most of my teachers probably wouldn't bother).
